Our 'Adopt an Instrument' program invites individuals, families, school classes and local service clubs to take on funding for the repair and reconditioning of a special instrument.
We receive many great donations of instruments, but some need more love and attention than others. Depending on the instrument and the shape it is in, this can require a significant degree of financial support. Repairs can vary significantly in cost, great and small. In some cases, the instrument may not be a good fit for inclusion in the MILL’s lending catalogue, but sale of the reconditioned instrument to a musician who will cherish it can assist with funding and continued support for our programs.
‘Saxophund April 2024’
Alto saxophones are popular instruments at the MILL; they are also quite expensive to recondition and maintain. We currently have ONLY TWO alto saxophones in our lending catalogue. These instruments are ALWAYS out on loan and there are usually 2 or 3 Patrons on a waiting list to borrow an alto sax whenever one returns. We only have a brief window to clean the instruments before sending them out again on a new loan.
Help bust ‘Saxophrustration’!
We have 2 additional alto saxophones, but both need expensive refurbishing before we can add them to our lending line-up.
- Yamaha YAS-23 (estimated cost $550)
- Boosey & Hawkes Oxford (estimated cost $491)
