‘Camarano’ Gold Turtle-shell Piano Accordion: This is a great little folk instrument. Small keys, the bass (40) has no 7th or minor chords. It is tuned to A443.
GWL Acoustic Guitar: A good-playing, ‘Dreadnaught’ style guitar; it has a large body, sized for an adult player. It is a ‘Novice’ instrument in good condition, available to first-time guitar students.
Yamaha F310 6-string acoustic guitar: A sweet-playing full-size instrument for more experienced players. Thirty years old (manufactured November 1989) this instrument has tone and quality.
Art & Lutherie 6-string acoustic guitar: Full-size instrument with a cedar top, black finish and maple neck in good condition. Manufactured in Canada by Godin, this instrument plays well, sounds good too; a very decent ‘basic’ guitar.
Vintage ‘Nippon Gakki’ Yamaha FG140 6-string acoustic guitar: Spruce top, 3-ply back/sides, bit of a belly, some gouges and heavy wear on face of guitar. Excellent tone and volume. This guitar is a pleasure to play! Made in Japan, 1968 – 72 (Probably 1969) for export to the American market.
Renaissance 6-string acoustic guitar: A full-size instrument suitable with a smaller body. Suitable for novice players; it is a good ‘starter’ instrument.
Vintage ‘Framus’ Model 5/95 6-string acoustic guitar: A classic instrument from the 1960s, manufactured by the Framus Company in ‘Bavaria, West Germany’. This instrument was manufactured for export to the American market as either a ‘Doc Williams Jr. Or a ‘Dix’ model. It has a rather unique fan bracing pattern which has allowed for considerable sway in the belly; looks a bit rough but plays remarkably well. John Lennon (among others) played a Framus guitar, but not this one…
Fender ‘Classic Design’ acoustic guitar: This is a full-size guitar with a smaller body. In new condition, it is a pleasure to play. Suitable for adult students or more experienced players.
Vintage ‘Maestro’ 6-string acoustic guitar: Simple old plywood guitar with a floating bridge neck/body at 12th fret. Plays remarkably well. Small body, good for a younger novice player/student. ‘Made in Japan’, dates to late 1950s or very early ‘60s.
Yamaha FG Junior JR-1, 6-string acoustic guitar: A good ¾ size guitar in good condition (some small dings/scratches); it plays well, suitable for a younger student.
Yamaha 315 A 6-string acoustic guitar: A full-size instrument for more experienced players. Rich sounding, good volume and tone, in good condition, it plays well. (Manufactured 1994)

Balalaika – primo: A 3-stringed Russian or Ukrainian instrument, the 2 bass strings are nylon and tuned to A. The treble string is steel and tuned to E (a perfect 4th higher).

Cello: copy of Franz Joseph Pfretschner prope violino car repontent faciebat anno 1700 in Cremona’ made in Germany BKN. Definitely not the best cello ever made, this ‘rustic beauty’ is our ‘starter’ instrument for newbies to take their first steps toward playing cello.

Harmonium: An organ-like keyboard with a hand-operated bellows and 4 ‘stops’. Very portable and fun to play. Interesting tonal qualities, the harmonium was common in 19th century North American music. It is used in much Indian music and has applications in Irish and other folk traditions too.

Shekere (African gourd Cabasa)

Kawai K1 Digital Synthesizer: This Synthesizer is an older (1989) professional level instrument. It includes the original digital synthesizer module and owner’s manual. It requires external amplifier and speakers (or powered speakers, guitar amp, etc.) to operate. The sound sits somewhere between a Roland D-50 and a Korg M1. The K1 is capable of very good acoustic recreation, excellent unique synth sounds or at times, completely noisy walls of complex sound. The K1 features 256 8-bit PCM waveforms (204 additive waveforms, 52 acoustic samples, AM (Ring modulation) and a 16×2 lines LCD display. It has four modes of operation: Mono, Polyphonic, Split, Unison. It includes drum kits and sounds (acoustic and electronic kits, cymbals as well as some tuned percussion), so can be used to create full rhythm backing when sequenced. Mostly known for percussive sounds, organs, haunting pads, strings and FM bass sounds and acoustic bass. This is a ‘Quality’ instrument, not available on loan to an inexperienced musician.
