Donna Douglas knew of her love for music from the early age of 7, when she began piano lessons herself… there leading into her lifelong pursuit of musical knowledge.
Donna studied the Royal Conservatory piano method until she was accepted to the Queen’s University Bachelor of Music program majoring in piano and music education. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Queen’s in 1996, and a year later her Bachelor of Education with a specialty in teaching instrumental music.
While attending Queen’s, Donna performed in the Queen’s Musical Theatre pit orchestra, served as an orchestra pianist with the Queen’s Symphony, and was a rehearsal accompanist for Kingston’s Cantabile Children’s Choir. She continues to serve as a rehearsal accompanist for the Belleville Theatre Guild.
Donna has been an elementary school teacher with the Hastings-Prince Edward District School Board for the past 20 years, teaching a homeroom, as well as instrumental music, directing choirs, bands, and school musicals. She has a number of years of experience teaching private music lessons, and takes tremendous pleasure in exposing children to the joys of music.
