Blair Yarranton is a working jazz musician and a Music Teacher.
He teaches Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Jazz Theory and Improvisation (all instruments) at a Private Studio in Trenton and directs the Jazz Orchestra, Concert Band and Music Theatre Pit Band at Centennial Senior School in Belleville.
Blair attended Humber College (Creative and Performing Arts), and graduated from the University of Toronto (Jazz Performance) in 2000, adding a B.Ed. from Queens University the year after. He has studied with Don Johnson, Steve Crowe, Chase Sanborn, John McLeod, and Kevin Turcotte. Active professionally, Blair is ½ of the Adler-Yarranton Duo. He also plays with the Brian Barlow Big Band (Toronto), The Commodores’ Orchestra (Belleville), and The Swingmasters (Kingston).
Other performance credits include Kenny Wheeler, The Temptations, Guido Basso, Tim Hagans, Fred Stride, Paul Tynan, and John Lamb.
